The Resurrection Changes Everything

Several years ago as I was enjoying fellowship with some fellow pastors at a convention meeting, an older pastor (maybe about my age now!) said, “If you want to make a new friend, just walk up to a total stranger and ask him, ‘How did that situation work out?’”  He went on to say that everyone has “a situation” of some kind!  Haven’t you learned that to be true?

The good news is that whatever your situation is at the moment, the resurrection of Jesus Christ gives hope and assurance that God knows and God cares!  Whether you are a pastor, staff member, or a member of the congregation, life always brings some unexpected and even unwanted “situations” that cause us to wonder if the grass might be greener on the other side of the fence.

It reminds me of an old Peanuts cartoon in which Lucy is talking with Charlie Brown.  She tells him that over that hill (in the distance) there is probably another boy wondering if on our side of the hill life is much better.  After she walks away, Charlie Brown looks toward the hill and says, “Forget it kid!”

As you celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus in a few days, rejoice in the fact that He went to the cross so that we might have life and have it to the fullest.  Then, that first Resurrection Sunday morning, He came forth as the Lord over sin, death and hell, for all who will turn from their sin and put their faith in Him alone!  His resurrection power is still available to bring victory in whatever our situation may be!

As the early believers greeted each other, “The Lord is risen!” “He is risen indeed!”

I am so glad to be your Director of Missions,

Glenn
